Happy Birthday Katie!

The 3rd birthday in the life of Katie...

Katie couldn't have been more excited that it's her birthday. In fact, she's still excited! She told me today "I'm a big girl now. I was 3 yesterday." Katie has her own version of what Peter and I call a "happy dance." Meadow's happy dance is prancing around in excitement. Katie's is jumping up and down and shaking her arms.

April 8th 2008 - How on earth do I have a 3-year-old daughter? My thought yesterday morning. Quickly followed by, damn, my dissertation is 3 years late and I'm still not thin. But this is about Katie, not me... I'm just the mom, though I'm happy to report that Katie will often say spontaneously "Mommy, you're the best Mommy ever!"

We started the morning with some gifts. Katie had only one request for her birthday. She wanted a stuffed tyrannosaurus rex, preferably blue. One of her favorite tv shows is currently Caillou and Caillou has a stuffed "Rexy" so that's what Katie wanted. Well you can buy a stuffed Caillou doll, but not a stuffed Rexy and I found an appropriately lizard color one instead. Happy dance time "a dinosaur!" Katie screamed. And I thought that I'd start off her dress-up collection with a dress I actually bought with her. Happy dance time. "I look like a princess!"
