"The map to branzino"
Our sophisticated daughter went out for dinner 3 nights in a row this weekend - and each night she wanted fish. So Peter, being the greater fish lover, ordered fish each night and Katie really would have eaten all of it. The first two nights he had branzino, a European seabass. Katie thought this was the coolest name and before we went out for dinner on Sunday, decided that one of the drawings she had done recently was a "map to branzino." In this map, "branzino" was the restaurant and I was really impressed that Katie knew that both where we are and where we are going are supposed to be on a map (thank you Dora the Explorer for this one). We had dinner with Donna and Jon and Daniel and Ethan. We ate outside, which is a great thing to do in NYC on a warm night. Peter and I both ordered fish and it was my turn to have branzino (coincidence, I swear). Well my branzino wasn't good enough, Katie only wanted Daddy's fish. I don't know why Daddy's fish tastes better.
Again, I have to admire Daniel and Ethan - they're teenagers and could very easily ignore a 3-year-old girl. But they are really wonderful with her. Katie was particularly smitten with Ethan this time and was thrilled when he drew her a picture. She did ballet for him.
