Kate Isabella

Here's Katie's birth announcement (minus her last name). I meant to put this up last night, but we were too tired after a wonderfully long day.

The story about Katie goes something like this. I wanted a little girl named Katie since I was 10-years-old. I told Peter this in 1997 so we always knew our girl would be Katie. The difficulty came when my grandfather died (at age 100!) when I was 7-months pregnant. There's a strong tradition in my family of naming babies in honor of relatives who have died. So what were we going to do? So we chose Isabella. I beautiful name that we love and works for being after my grandfather whose name was Isaac.

Here's a picture of my grandfather and his wife Sophie at his 99th birthday party. "Grandma Sophie" calls Katie frequently and couldn't be happier that Katie is named for a man she loved so much. A word about my grandfather, he was an old-fashioned doctor who made house calls and known for telling stories and a corny sense of humor.
