Mooo, Baaaa, Maaaa?

Katie is getting more and more talkative every day! It's amazing to see. This week her new word was "share." She said share in the right context, such as sharing toys with a little friend. But she would share her food with Meadow and then say to Meadow "share, share, share!" She's learning that Meadow doesn't share her spoils (she's a pig, not aggressive).

Yesterday Katie started making animal sounds. I bought her the Little People Farm and it makes animal noises. She quickly learned and could answer on command "What sound does the cow make?" Today I came home from Aunt Rachel's surprise birthday luncheon and Peter said "what sound does the sheep make?" And Katie said "Baaaa." At one point she kind of mixed the 2 and both animals said "Maaaaa??!!!" Peter also taught her this cute one "what sound does the Katie make?" "Milk!"

Katie has also learned this week that 2 comes after 1. It's great to hear her say "1,2" when we put socks, shoes, or pants on, or walk up the little stairs in the lobby. I've started walking her to the store right outside our building, no stroller if we don't need much. She can press the down elevator button and then she holds onto the elevator railing really tight. The cashiers give her a little box of raisins (tonight she immediately shared them with Meadow when we got home). And we see our favorite fruit seller on the corner who gives her a banana. Such a city kid!

Speaking of city kids... the above picture was taken yesterday at the Children's Museum. Have to love living on the UWS and having a children's museum in walking distance. I have a feeling that a lot of people in the neighborhood have a membership and use it as a playroom - it was soooo crowded. They just opened a new exhibit for the 4-and-under crowd. Katie loved the steps and the slide and the ball drops. It was an entertaining way to spend the afternoon. Posted by Picasa
