Reading to puppies
I found Katie dressed up and reading to her puppies the other day. There are a few books she knows practically by heart so she does a good job reading to them. She tucked them into her bed with her and read Pinkalicious.
Katie continues to amaze me every day. I certainly get tired of some behaviors, the endless negotiations or when she's particularly demanding. But I never get sick of being her mom and that's kind of astounding to me. She's picked up a lot of phrases and expressions at school and she brings them home. One that makes us laugh is when she says to me and Peter, "Guys, you do it this way" or "Guys, let's do __." She calls us "guys" as if we were her friends or her students.
I love her tales of school. Sometimes I'm not sure whether she's reporting information to share because it's interesting and newsworthy or do kids start to gossip at this age? Examples. "Mommy, Friend X brought something to school today for lunch that we're not supposed to bring to school. Liz told him that he can't bring ham again." Or "Mommy, Friend Y's cat died."
