Erev Christmas

Monday night was my chosen family's annual Erev Christmas party. A long ago tradition started among my parents' friends to have a party for Jews on Christmas Eve. My family and I have taken to calling it "Erev Christmas" (Erev is Hebrew for the eve of a holiday). We went to Debbie's house for a gathering of family friends (the chosen family) and we had a great time. Here's Katie dressing up with Robin and Abby (both 4).

Today Katie was making phone calls on her play cell phone and she said she was talking to Belle. "Belle? Who's Belle?" I asked her. "She's a princess. Robin dressed like her." I couldn't believe that we (so far) have basically kept her shielded from the dominance of Disney Princesses at this age and Katie calls Belle anyway.
