playdate

We met our friend Aidan at a gym on the UES on Wednesday. We hadn't seen him in a while and it was fun to catch up with him and his mom. I explained to Katie and she and Aidan were babies together, but she kept insisting that he was a "new" friend. Katie loved that we took 2 buses to get there! One of the highlights for Katie was that Aidan's Nana was there - she was visiting for Christmas from California. We called Katie's Nana later that night to tell her that Aidan has a Nana too. I told Katie today that I thought it was neat that she doesn't have a "grandma." Of course I realized this long ago, but I was going through the events of the day today while we were in line at Target and I said "First we'll go see Oma and then we'll go see Dima" and I thought other people must be confused overhearing the terminology (as if it matters). But I was always self-conscious about not having a grandma - I had a Mom-mom and (still have) an Oma. Grandma was (and still is) Elizabeth's Grandma.
