A Great New York Day!
Katie had a really great New York day today. First we walked to Central Park and had a picnic. Here's Peter and Katie having a picnic lunch on the Great Lawn. Katie held our hand and walked on the grass in her new shoes. We then checked out the Shakespeare Garden and all the flowers in bloom.
And then we walked to the carousel in Central Park and we all took a ride. Katie's first carousel ride. She loved it! She and I shared a horse while her daddy took pictures. Notice Katie's shoes.

After the carousel, we went to the Central Park Zoo. First we went to the children's zoo which is very interactive. You can get very close to the farm animals and feed them. We didn't feed them, but Katie got very well acquainted with the sheep. Here's a picture of her talking to the sheep - and she did "talk" to them.
We also went to the other section of the zoo, the part that is more of a traditional zoo with animals you can't touch. Katie glanced at her cousins, the snow monkeys, but wasn't too impressed. By the time we got to her mommy's cousins, the polar bears, she was fast asleep.

We then walked back through the park, through the ramble and stopped by the Columbus crafts fair to see Aunt Rachel who was browsing. On the way home, we stopped at the community garden right near our old building. In April, the garden is all ablaze with tulips. It's really magnificient. Here is a picture of Katie and the tulips.
When we got home Peter and I were tired from all the distance we covered. Being well rested after being strolled all over the park, Katie played happily, zooming everywhere with her little walker. A beautiful day.
