Katie gets shoes

"Do you know how many photo albums I'm in across the country?" Mr. Hill at Harry's Shoes said to me as I took out the camera to capture the "buying the first shoes" experience. Peter said that it never would have occured to him to take pictures of this event. But it is monumental. Our baby is learning to walk. And also, both grandmas wanted to buy the first pair of shoes so there must be something special about it. Apologies to Katie's Grandma/Nana that her Grandma/Dima won out. It's just that Grandma/Dima is local and her school is right by the shoe store.
No surprise, but for girls there aren't too many choices for first shoes, basically pink or pink. Well we could have gotten white but didn't think that was too practical (not that practical plays much of a part in this - you wouldn't believe how expensive they were). I ended up getting a pink pair with little white and blue flowers on them. They're cute, I'll take a picture when she wears them. She's close to walking and can do laps around the building with her little push walker, and now that it's nice out we wanted her to have shoes for the outdoors, like when she goes to the playground, which she does almost daily.
Katie was really good. Mr. Hill said many babies, or even most, cry when they are trying them on for the first time. But Katie was happy and smiling the whole time. I tried to get her to pick which of 2 pairs she wanted but she wasn't interested, she just wanted to play with both. Of course she'll express her wishes soon enough anyway.
