"Will you try it?"
As I've mentioned before, Katie's a wonderfully adventurous eater and I marvel at this every day. We've worked to expand her tastes, but we've never had to work too hard because she's always happy to try whatever we're eating. About the only things we've found that she doesn't like are olives and beans and anything that comes from a can (I have no idea how she can tell - she just can. We had a peach cobbler in WA and she wouldn't eat it, the peaches were canned).
I, on the other hand, have my clear preferences. There's a well-known story in my family - when I was 10, I told Oma that I'd be a great vegetarian... if I liked vegetables. Truth is that now I love vegetables and I've always loved fruit (every one, except papaya), it's the sources of protein that I have issues with. The other day I gave Katie a turkey and pastrami sandwich for lunch, while I had some plain turkey. She told me that I should have some pastrami too. "I don't really want any pastrami Katie."
"Why not?"
"Well I don't really like it."
"Mommy, will you try it?"
Of course she's absolutely correct.
I took this picture 2 weeks ago. My mom was over for dinner and Katie was playing dress-up and brought it to the dinner table. Katie loves salad, as you can see.
