Katie and Baby Katie

Katie got a baby with hair for Chanukah from my parents. As you may know, she's really fond of her babies - all of whom are named Baby, though sometimes she differentiates and calls them Mommy Baby, Daddy Baby, and Baby. I thought she was ready for a doll with hair, though at first she didn't like this doll and called it "scary." After the baby with hair spent a night in the cradle, she became acceptable and joined the fold of Katie's loved babies. But this one has a name. Her name is Baby Katie.

Yes, my daughter has named her doll after herself. Maybe this is evidence of good self-esteem. It does look a little like her, long brown hair and brown eyes. And as a nurse at Oma's pointed out, lots of parents name their children after themselves. Not one of my favorite traditions, but it does have some history in Peter's family.

Katie's current phase is that she doesn't want to leave the house. At least I'm hoping that it's a phase! We try to go somewhere are I hear "I don't want to go. I want to stay home and do nothing." More on this soon.
