We're home...

Dear Loyal Readers,

After a few weeks off, I'm resuming the blog. I'm afraid that blogging where we are now neglects the wonderful last few weeks in NYC. But if I don't start now - where we are now - I will miss all the important things happening here.

The thousand pound gorilla/elephant/ or in these parts of the world - armadillo - is the fact that we've moved to Dallas. I didn't know how to explain, I still don't know how to explain it, and there are still many people I have yet to explain it to. And I apologize if anyone is finding out from reading the blog - the truth is I just didn't want to talk about it, please don't be mad. Dallas is now where we are and where we will be for at least the next few years. It was a very difficult choice and one with made with great contemplation, consideration, debate, and anxiety. It was certainly hard for me to leave all of my family, friends, and our much loved Ania and go to a place I don't know, I have never driven in, and can only identify geographic areas by shops or restaurants. And it's a red state no less! But once we made the decision, the transition has gone very quickly and we're in our new home ready to start a new life.

Katie is having a great time. She spent the first week mostly with Nana while Peter and I dealt with the house. We had a playdate with our NY friend Eli who was in Dallas visiting his grandparents. We went to this wonderful "sprayground" near his grandparents' house. They loved it and I thought that NYC could definitely benefit from this kind of place.
Katie spent the second week in dance camp at the JCC. It was the best thing we've done because she spent every day from 9-2 with other preschool girls doing ballet, tap, art, and going swimming. Here are some highlights from her end of the week dance performance. This teacher (Miss Suzi) chose great music, including one dance to my favorite "The Rainbow Connection." The tap part was particularly cute and something she'd never done before. She came home with tales of playing mermaids in the pool and making art projects. And of course being the small Jewish community of Dallas, two of the other 6 girls ended up being the children of people Peter went to Greenhill with.

Ann was completely invaluable with her advice and opinions and she and Alan spent so much time watching Katie and this is so appreciated. I'm sorry I don't have any pictures of the 3 of them together swimming in the pool or at lunch at the Purple Cow, but obvioulsy I wasn't there.

As expected, Meadow is adapting best of all of us. She got off the plane completely happy and active and dove right into Ann & Alan's pool when we let her out in the backyard the first time. I'm writing this on our 3rd night here and she couldn't be happier having a backyard. In contrast to our small apartment, we don't always know where Meadow is and it's a little strange. But Meadow was really meant to have a backyard and we're happy to finally accommodate her with lots of love and romping in the grass.

So here's to starting a new chapter of our life. Please read the blog and share our life here.

Love,

Sarah
