Dipa in Gan Shalom
Although not the best picture of Gan Shalom, the preschool's garden (Garden of Peace), I love this picture of my dad. My dad was the more influential parent when it came to religion and it was great to show him our new religious home in Dallas. The temple we've joined (we're Reform, so it's a temple) is the oldest Reform Temple in Dallas and the biggest. It's a little more Reform than I'm used to, but it (so far) seems like a great and active congregation. I took my parents on a tour of the temple (it's huge!) while Katie was still in school and showed them the great artwork and facilities. My dad was particularly facinated by the archives, something Ann has worked on.
Gan Shalom was a big plus for us when we were looking at preschools. We saw it and fell in love with the school. The kids grow strawberries and basil and tomatoes and flowers and all sorts of things in the long growing season of Texas. Each class has Gan Shalom each week. I think it's a really fantastic learning experience, but then I like to garden. Katie does too.
Here is Gan Shalom last summer when we took Katie to see her school. And here's Katie and the squash.
