New friends
I invited two women over from my Melton class last Thursday with their daughters. The girls are all in different (Jewish) preschools and I assumed that they'd play well together. They did. Again, all the dress up clothes came in handy. So here are Sarah and Katie and Rachel. Katie was amused that these 2 new friends had the names of me and my sister.
The friends from my Melton class are wonderful. These two women are warm and nice and not from here, and I've found that this is actually a plus when it comes to trying to make friends with other women in Dallas. Turns out that women in Dallas are very cliquey and it's only taken me about 6 months to realize this (there are always exceptions, of course). But anyway, the moms had a great time and too and we'll do it again. I can't tell you how much I loved having people in my home, just hanging out. It was so much like my New York playdates and I miss those. Alma even brought a tres leches cake.
Katie's learned in school that when someone new comes, they are a "new friend." It's adorable to hear her say, "there was a new friend in science class today." To quote the tv channel Noggin "Wouldn't it be nice if life were like preschool?"
