Biking on a Sunday

Nana & Papa bought Katie a balance bike for Chanukah. It was my idea. The concept of a balance bike is bascially once a child can glide on a pedal-less 2-wheeler they can go right to a pedaled 2 wheeler and skip the training wheel process. I saw kids do it in Riverside park in NYC and I thought it was a great idea. Katie's not as convinced. We don't have a large flat paved surface for her to glide on (our driveway is small) and even though we live on a dead end street, she won't practice there.

We were in the driveway with the bike when we saw our neighbors and their 3 kids. He thought the balance bike was pretty great and he took a turn helping Katie on their large driveway. He still thought their was a value in training wheels, so he went in the garage and brought out 2 bikes her size. He gave us one to borrow (the youngest is younger than Katie) and we went that day to the bike store to have them put training wheels on. Katie, being so tall, is almost ready for a 16" bike.
