Katie's Theology

When we were driving today, Katie had her first discussion with me about God. She told me, "Collin told me that God is in your heart. And God is all around us."
It was sort of a strange moment. We've never talked to Katie about God and my own views are rather nebulous. So it was another moment that I was glad that we send her to a Jewish preschool.

I was curious what she thought of God. We talked in my Melton class about how many young children see God as an old man with a big booming voice as they do in the movies. She's never seen "The Prince of Egypt" or "The Ten Commandments" and they certainly don't mention God on Dora, The Backyardigans, or any of the other shows she watches. After we read her bedtime story, I asked her what she thought about God or what she'd learn. So right now Katie's views on God are the following: God is a man. He wears a kipa. He is tall and has black hair. He's a younger man, like a daddy.
