Reading a special book with Oma
Katie and I went with my mom to visit Oma yesterday. It was our usual Friday visit, plus Katie's Dima - which she was very excited about. "We're going to see Oma. Dima's going to see Oma." We brought one of Katie's new favorite books with her. It's called "Joseph had a little overcoat" and it's based on a traditional Yiddish song. Well Oma loved this book and looked at it for most of our visit. The illustrations are beautiful and reminds us of the Hungarian Jewish artist Obican. And it depicts shtetl life with humor. Oma really appreciated the little Yiddish sayings in the illustrations and it was a wonderful thing to share between the generations. It's a really beautiful book so I highly recommend checking it out. The weather was gorgeous yesterday so we all enjoyed being outside.
