"I went to the MUseum"

Today was a holiday in NYC so the Children's Museum (usually closed on Mondays) was open. Katie and I went first thing this morning. I was anxious to go with her because I have never taken her there by myself and I haven't been there in a while. Ania has reported that Katie feels a sense of ownership of the place and is very active in "circle time" now. All of this is true and she even took me to a section I hadn't been to (the block party). Here you can see Katie making a "stars and moon" collage. After a visit to the museum, she comes home with great artwork. Last week it was a mask - very beautiful and for a while Katie was calling it her "max." MUseum, by the way, is a Katie-pronunciation, emphasis on the first syllable.

Circle time (below) is when some children gather with 2 museum adults and they read stories and sing songs. Katie actually sat in my lap for a while - maybe it was the novelty of having Mommy there - but as soon as the songs started she participated with enthusiasm.

Katie was pretty chatty today. We went to Erika's in the afternoon and when we got back she wanted to call everyone to tell her about her day. "Aunt Rachel," she said, "I went to the MUseum. Then I went to my friend's house. And I saw my friends."

FYI - for the next 2 weeks, you can hear audio of me and Katie at the MUseum. She sounds a little "chipmunk-esque" but it's cute. http://www.museumconnect.net/cmom/url_anim.asp?dval=20071112_112525
