Katie had a really fun day yesterday. Aunt Elizabeth was in from Paris and Katie got to spend the day with Elizabeth's mommy. Karen is one of those wonderful (and slightly crazy) people you have to love. She's quirky and she's funny and, most important for Katie, she
loves kids. Karen taught for many, many years and she always thinks of fun things to do. Elizabeth and I went out to lunch and shopping and Katie stayed at Karen's and painted with water colors and made alphabet collages and took a nap "in a big girl bed." Karen was impressed that Katie knows all her letters and can spell her name. [note: it's not bragging, this is Katie's virtual babybook]. And then when EB and I came home, Dima and Dipa and Aunt Rachel came over for dinner. Check out the pink shoes they found for Katie in the "magical closet." She loves them.
And then Aunt Elizabeth even came back into the city with us and slept over! Katie was very excited to have a sleepover. By the time we parked and got home, it was late, Katie was exhausted and she threw a complete fit because I wouldn't let her come with me to return the cart and take Meadow out. Crying, screaming, hysterics, the works. That's Katie - she's terrific in new places and sleeps in beds that aren't her own without a problem, but once she's really tired her patience is gone and tantrums happen pretty easily. I knew she was okay and she was safe, she wasn't going to hurt herself (or Elizabeth), so I shut the door and took Meadow out. When I came back, she was happily reading books with EB.
