Life in Dallas
My life has become getting in and out of the car a zillion times a day. Instead of walking downstairs to Gourmet Garage, I bargain with Katie to go to Whole Foods to buy stuff for dinner. Have to work on planning meals ahead, never had to do that before. Sometimes when I'm driving for the eighth time that day, I pass by the streets we passed when visiting Dallas and think that this is a trial run, that this is what it would be like if we did live here. But we're here - as is all our stuff, our dog, and all the things we didn't know what to do with in NYC have made it here too and we still don't know what to do with it. It's a good life, just different from NYC. Of course I couldn't be happier with the weather. While my family in NJ is complaining that it's cold, we're still wearing shorts. It's a little strange to a NYer to have the leaves start changing when it's still in the 70s or 80s. We use our backyard every day - and not just for Meadow.
Above is Katie playing with her friend Samantha. Samantha is a year older than Katie, but they take ballet together at school and like each other. She was over for a playdate last week when they were off for Sukkot. Samantha is the most intuitive child I've ever met. She correctly figured out that Katie wasn't feeling well and was tired because she was so uncharacteristically cranky. We're hoping she doesn't hold that against Katie because Katie and I both want her to come back to play.
