Katie's new kitchen
I finally bit the bullet and chose a play kitchen for Katie as a birthday present from Nana & Papa. Okay, it's August, why is my April-born daughter getting her birthday present now? Well we didn't really want one for a while because I didn't think that the amount of time she would use it would justify the large amount of space it would take up. I finally gave in when she kept pretending to make "Chinese soup" in the bath and making me coffee every morning with the tea set that Jill bought her. I found the one that combined the smallest size and most accoutrements. Turns out she loves it and it fits very nicely into a little nook of her room. She says "Nana bought me a kitchen!"
You wouldn't know it from this picture, but Katie was sick. On Wednesday we were at our playgroup at Kevin's playroom and she was fine and happily playing. Just before we left, she got really cranky and didn't want to take turns. Now I've mentioned briefly before that Katie doesn't share well or take turns well yet, it's something that we're working on (but more on that another time). So I thought she was just getting tired and she was being cranky. Well when we got home and I took her out of the stroller, I thought she felt warm so I thought I'd take her temperature. It was 103! Katie is not a kid who seems to get high fevers so this was a little disturbing. The pediatrician said that a high fever virus was going around the neighborhood and Katie was just a "good Upper West Sider." She had the fever for 3 days and was better yesterday and today she developed a rash so my guess it was roseola all along.
