The girls' connection

Katie has her first ear infection, well maybe first 2 because it's in both ears. She woke up at midnight last night crying and said her ear hurt. I gave her some ibuprofen and then tried to get her propped up in her crib. Then she woke up at 6 and said her other ear hurt. So off we went this morning to the doctor. The ear infection happened to coincide with a cold snap in NYC. Yes, a mile roundtrip walk to the pediatrician in 13 degrees. Yes we're NYers and we walk everywhere, but I'm one of those people who'd rather not leave the house if it's below 20.

Anyway, the doctor was great and even listened to Grover's heart and looked in his ears (on the stuffed friend rotation, he's the current favorite). And we came home with amoxicilin. When it was nap time, Meadow stayed right with her and wouldn't leave the room, just as she did yesterday. I didn't think anything of this until I was on the phone with my dad who called to check up on Katie and then asked what Meadow was doing. I told him and he said Meadow knows Katie's not feeling well and is looking out for her. He said my dog Snoopy did the same with me. And sure enough when Katie left the apartment with Ania, Meadow wimpered at the door.
