Pirate Birthday

We went to a classmate's birthday last weekend. I have to say that for having a huge inflatable pirate ship in the backyard, the party was wonderfully low key. And as one mom said, "this is something you can't have in NYC." Definitely true. It was a day that we got a lot of rain from Hurricane Ike so they moved the party up to pretty early in the morning. All the kids put on bathing suits and jumped around in the rain and by the time it started pouring, it was time for cake and time to go.

Katie loved the idea of the pirate ship, just not actually trying to climb up the back so she didn't go down the slide. She bounced around in the part you could get to more easily. Here is a pic of her bouncing with her friends. And yes, Aunt Rachel came to the party. Not sure she bargained for 4-year-old's birthday party in Dallas, but all the parents were really friendly.

It was fun to see Katie playing with her friends from school - and she's very fond of this boy and they both say they want to have a playdate. Actually, this kid said said he wanted to have a sleepover with Katie, but we thought we should start with a playdate.
