Katie does Dallas - March '07

Katie is having a great time in Dallas! Nana bought lots of toys for her to play with. When I went to pack Katie I was embarassed to find that she had no warm weather clothes. Not to worry though because Nana already had a lot in the closet for Katie. And then we went shopping and bought more. She looks so cute in little short sleeves.

Katie playing dress up and in one of her new outfits.

She really couldn't be having more fun and that makes me feel good about leaving her for a few days. I know she'll be sad and miss us, but as Peter points out, she gets sad when she doesn't get the kind of bowl she wants, so she'll be fine. And her grandparents couldn't be more excited about her stay.

Although we are in Dallas, Katie continues to talk about Meadow. She mentions that Meadow's away, where she is, and that Meadow isn't here to clean up under her highchair. She continues to be shy with new people, especially men and this must be a little frustrating for her Papa, but he's such a good sport. And in a few minutes after she sees him, they are playing or reading, or generally laughing and having a good time.

Katie's learned to nod yes and no. This is a good thing because she still refuses to say yes. An affirmative in Katie-world is repeating what you said. "Katie, do you want more salad?" "More salad." She's enjoying Nana's delicious salads and eating very well. And she is looking forward to Aunt Lesley coming to Dallas too. I really wonder what an almost 2-year-old's concept of time is. I told Ann to stick with the script of "Mommy and Daddy will be back in a few days. In the meantime you're going to have lots of fun with Nana and Papa." I have a feeling that I'm going to feel lost without my little monkey. The only other time we left her was for a wedding last June and I woke up and felt like I was missing part of me. I'll report back soon.
