Great Day

Last Monday we spent a great day with our friend Anna and her mom Sarah. First we went to the Central Park Zoo - a place the girls both love. And then we went to have lunch at Alice's Tea Cup. Alice's is a place I've been wanting to try because it's a cute tea room and one of the owners was in my high school class.

The day was great, but Katie was tired. I think it took her about 3 full days to recover from her night of partying with Robin. Our trip to the zoo went pretty well. We found out that the polar bears are named Gus and Ida (maybe for someone's grandparents????). And we finally went into the tropical rainforest, which was pretty interesting. And Katie's favorite thing is feeding the animals at the children's zoo. She and Anna ran around quite a lot and had a great time.

By lunch time, Katie was exhausted and we had to wait for a table (luckily, they called the cell so we didn't have to wait inside the small restaurant). By the time we sat down and got drinks, Katie broke into hysterical sobs when she was served iced tea, not tea in the fancy china tea cup. The food was good and I loved Katie's peanut butter on banana bread.

I don't think that I'd walked a full block from lunch when Katie had passed out. My sister always talks about how Robin falls asleep in her carseat. Here's the urban kid, carless version.

PS - in case you don't recognize the yellow hippo, she's Tasha from the Backyardigans. Anna had Austin and we happened to walk into a store while we were waiting for lunch and found Tasha. Katie likes her a lot and now wants to watch the Backyardigans. I let her watch it the other night and she kept saying to Tasha, "Look Tasha, it's you on the tv." Peter points out that she never did that with Elmo.
