Dancing for Oma
Katie's new favorite thing to bring to Oma's is her tutu! She loves to dress up and put on a performance for everyone at the nursing home. I have to say that everyone loves it - the residents and the staff. Much of the staff knows her by name and they cheer her on. The residents say "oh there's that little girl again and she's dancing." On a beautiful sunny day recently, we went outside on the patio after lunch and Katie got to dance for an audience because there were so many people outside.
Oma loves seeing Katie and of course seeing her do ballet. It's funny to think of the progression of things we've brought with us to visit Oma. It started with teething toys and stacking cups and then puzzles and her doll stroller. And now we're up to tutu and ballet slippers.
And there's a very nice man there who always says hi to Katie by name - and will sometimes even sing the K-K-K-Katie song to her. Katie initiated conversation with Milo the other day - and danced for him. Knowing how Katie doesn't usually like men she doesn't know well, this was particularly cute.
